Things are looking a little better today. Mom is being a real trooper, and she's doing everything she can to regain some of her strength. We've had a seemingly endless parade of therapists, etc. showing up to make her move around, and ask her lots of questions. It's all rather exhausting, but she's doing it. Even though she has no appetite, she makes the effort to eat pudding and an Ensure. She even tried a spoonful of soup, and thought it was pretty good. The physical therapist thinks she'll be able to be discharged at home (no idea when, yet), instead of a nursing home. We also had our meeting with the palliative care nurse today about hospice options. It's good that we've have previously had these discussions about interventions and quality of life. The hospice people will contact us sometime tomorrow. For now, everything is stable. Mom is in a regular room (not ICU), and overall is, in some ways, in better shape than her visit here at Dominican two years ago. It is still too soon and too difficult for her to take phone calls or visits. But she knows everyone is rooting for her. Thanks again everyone!
